WASHINGTON -- One of the biggest beneficiaries of the unexpected success of the Washington Redskins and their new superhero quarterback Robert Griffin III has been a restaurant which wrote the book on perseverance.
Mrs. Virginia Ali, who founded Ben's Chili Bowl with her late husband Ben in a former theater in U Street in 1958, tells of watching the final game of the NFL regular season between the Redskins and Dallas Cowboys.
"Right at halftime, there was a shot of our restaurant, with 30 million people watching," she recalled in amazement. "They described it as a local legend."
