Darrell Mottley discusses IP at Innovation & Equity

WASHINGTON -- Darrell G. Mottley, the new president of the District of Columbia Bar, has a front row seat for the biggest changes in intellectual property law in a generation.

As one of the 50 Most Important African-Americans in Technology, Mottley is the first IP lawyer to lead the nation's second largest bar association with 92,000 member lawyers.

During last year's Innovation & Equity Symposium, he gave a detailed yet user-friendly description of how African-American entrepreneurs can turn their creative product into valuable assets.

The Virginia Tech engineering alumnus is a principal shareholder of Banner Witcoff intellectual property law firm.  Like many other intellectual property attorneys, he combined technical skills with legal studies.

On Jan. 15, 2012, he will give an update on the progress in intellectual property law.  He's hopeful that Congress and the President will come to terms by then.
