Serious competition for the top prizes during the 33rd Black Cuisine Festival as community leaders like City Administrator Naomi Kelly and Public Utilities Commissioner Harlan Kelly and Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi decided on the winning entries. Supervisor Malia Cohen took the opportunity to note that her family has a history of award-winning cooking during the festival at Third and Yosemite Streets sponsored by the Dr. George Davis Multipurpose Senior Center. Among the entertainers was the popular band Jaye and Friends.
