Delicacies of the Day. Legendary songwriter and singer Lloyd Price combines breakfast and history with his Make Momma Proud brand of cereals and Energy-2-Eat cereal bars. The cereals have profiles of black historic figures on the back and help raise money for a Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame in Harlem. His extensive food brands are called Lawdy Miss Clawdy for one of his famous hits from the 1950s.
So too has Patti LaBelle parlayed her musical fame into the food business with a line of marinades, spices and sauces under her Patti LaBelle Foods banner.
Universal Beverage Group is working with entertainers and athletes to move its array of NuSouth flavored lemonades, inspired by Southern themes, into 20,000 stores around the country. They're also becoming popular ingredients in mixed drinks.
Harlem Brewery has brought back the feel of the speakeasies of the 1920 with its Sugar Hill Beer, inspired by Abolition-era recipes.
