ASALH honors Harriet Tubman during 96th convention

RICHMOND -- Harriet Tubman is the focal point for the Association for the Study of African-American Life and History's review of African-Americans and the Civil War Wednesday during its 96th annual conference.

Panelists on Wednesday, Oct. 5 include Barbara Tagger, interim manager for the Harriet Tubman State Park Initiative, former National Park Service director Robert Stanton, Kate Clifford Larson and John W. Franklin of the National Museum of African-American History and Culture.

Darlene Clark Hine leads a panel on black women and the Civil War on Friday, Oct. 7 and Leon Litwack offers an analysis of the impact of the Civil War on Saturday, Oct. 8.
